Look, it's review time! This episode saw the first appearance of the Ice Warriors, and it was pretty fun. Plot-wise, I enjoyed the warriors, and I found the evolution of the planet the writers imagined pretty fascinating. Artificial foods to sort the problem of world famine, thus plants limited to a minimum, thus drop of carbon dioxide and the Earth's temperature drops, instead of increasing like it's currently doing—the glaciers take over instead of melting away. Given that this is 1967, it's fascinating to see them come up with something that is basically the contrary of what's happening now, and yet fits humanity so perfectly. The computer and humans being so very dependent on its instructions were also fascinating. I loved the characters of Penley and Clent, Clent is the kind you want to smack, so hard-headed, but his whole world revolves around order and that doesn't mean he's inhumane, he just… needs to cling to what he can control. Of course Penley is the opposite of that—the scientist, the creative mind—and would loathe such a character. It's great to see how their personalities clash around the ending, but when push comes to shove, the choice does go to humanity, not the computer, and taking risks is the only way to survive—so Penley does that, and saves them all. (Plus Penley's actions and the Doctor's added up to defeat the Warriors—neat.) Their acknowledging each other then was a BRILLIANT moment—Clent going "You are the most insufferably irritating and infuriating person I've ever been privileged to work with" and then "Can't write a report though, can you? Something I've got to do for you. Well don't worry, it's something that I've been trained to do." Babies! Or rather human, wonderfully human men, different and flawed and stubborn and fearful and brave. I loved those two so much, really.

Why hello there! It took me forever to get through that episode, as usual, but it was nice. I love Jamie and Victoria more and more; they are full of cuteness. I like their dynamic and their dynamic with Two, and how protective Jamie gets with Victoria. Two practising hypnosis, or rather breaking Victoria's, was fascinating, as always when we catch a glimpse of the Doctor's psychic powers. Also, the Doctor played "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" in his cell. XD

It was interesting to see the first appearance of the Great Intelligence. Not much was said about it, and it kept throwing me when it was called "the Master", for the master of the monastery, but it's still always interesting to discover recurring characters for the first time. Apparently the Yeti will be back too, and soon! ^_^

That will be all, I didn't have that much to say there. Coming soon: Ice Warriors, the Brigadier in a few eps, and not too many recons for a while—yay!

Fun lines:

Jamie: "When you've been with the Doctor as long as I have, you begin to realise you don't know what he's talking about."

Jamie: "Oh no, my mistake. The great hairy beastie, it's the Doctor."

Jamie: "If you need me just yell your head off."
Victoria: "Don't worry, I will!"

Jamie: Hey, Doctor, if you really want to capture one of these beasties, I think I have an idea which might just work.
Doctor: Oh. Victoria?
Jamie: Eh?
Doctor: Victoria, I think this is one of those instances where discretion is the better part of valour. Jamie has an idea. Come along.
*they run off*

Doctor: "I know what I'm doing! I hope!"

*waves sleepily* Hello, hello. Well, I just spent most of my evening tucked between two pillows (the second one is a red, heart-shaped, super soft thing with an elephant pattern I'm currently cuddling to my stomach, which is naturally the most convenient thing to type—just in case anyone wanted to know, here you are), watching the end of that ep—at least the afternoon was productive. So review time it is.

Another nice ep, though it was only recons =) I'm liking that team!TARDIS more and more. The dystopia plot was quite nice, with the Big Brother-ish controller that turned out to be a giant beast. *snickers* It all seemed a lot too heavenly to be true at the beginning, and I really enjoyed seeing the team's reactions—the Doctor and Jamie wary, but Ben and Polly relishing it all, the luxury and being coddled. The brainwashing was interestingly depicted, with all the music/singing (cheerleaders going rah rah rah… Dear god =P), the voice speaking to implant its message in people's minds, the locals getting so WILD whenever the Macra were mentioned. It was interesting to see Ben fall prey to that, and entirely turning against his friends at first, then starting to struggle against it little by little. He completely turned into someone else, not even speaking with the same accent… Polly was nice too, though she did a lot of sobbing and screaming. Two's low, emotional voice at some times is a thing of beauty. Two as a general rule is perf. And I had nice Jamie feels, too ^_^ He's just so loyal and fierce and protective of his friends.

Yes, yes, it's one episode in two days! This is legit! *falls off chair*

God it feels GOOD to watch parts that are not recons, even two out of four. My attention span and excitement are a lot higher that way ;) Nice ep overall, and I'm liking the team TARDIS as it is so far, four of them all over again. The plot was nice (Atlantis ftw!), the madman was fun, the costumes were dreadful. Two's squee at being dressed in local wild clothing was hilarious—as was his explaining madness with silly gestures and a very serious face and tone. XD

Epic lines of doom:

Polly about the Doctor (eating ambrosia ravenously): "I don't know. I've never seen him go for food like this before. It's usually hats."

Ben: "Do you know what you're doing?"
Two: "Oh, what a question. Of course I don't!"

Two: "Then perhaps the distant roaring that we can hear is just the goddess Amdo with the indigestion?"

Jamie (about the TARDIS): ""I'll never know what makes it go, mind you, but, well, at least I feel safe in here. It's only the wee things outside that are, well, alarming."

I might get wild and get started on The Moonbase next. I know I'll probably get some s7 caps sometime soon, and the icon-making cravings will be back with a fury then, and besides I wouldn't mind getting some writing done… Better watch while I can ;)

Oh dear, I watch at a snail's pace. XD One part on Feb 27th, one part on March 9th, and the last two today. Funniest thing is, I started this afternoon, was interrupted five minutes into the ep, then decided to get back to work "for a bit"… and yeah, I abandoned it until tonight. XD Tonight is FREEDOM though—good progress on work, up to date with emails, icon batch posted and all of my notebook writings typed up, that means basically nothing to do but watch loads of classic!Who! I might just add another part or two before I leave tonight… it's an orgy. XD

Anyway, The Highlanders. I don't have many comments, but it was rather lovely—Two is absolutely delightful, I love his damn hat and his voice and his silly, playful manners. His impersonating a German doctor was priceless (Doctor Who?), and his being all sleepy while Polly was frantically requesting his help, too ;) Speaking of Polly, I think I'm warming up to her. Favourite parts are definitely when the team TARDIS is all together, they're a lot less interesting when all split up. Together they have all the fun character interaction. I hope Jamie will bring even more to the mix ^_^

That's all I have to say, so I'll fly off and watch more classic!Who while I still have the time. I have a way of always having a ton of things to do, so better enjoy the freedom while it's there ;) Love, everyone!

Goodness! Yeah, after a nearly two-month hiatus I eventually got back to classic!Who. XD And that feels goooood. Brings back all the feels and the craving to watch more, too—I already got started on The Highlanders, which is lovely!

Goodbye, One and amazing William Hartnell. My first classic Doctor ♥ (Much looking forward to Two! There was none of him in the ep but his face, but I'll probably watch the first part of Power of the Daleks this afternoon.)

*shrieks happily* I AM DONE WITH S3! I AM DONEEEEEEEEEEEEE

And The War Machines was a brilliant episode. It's funny, from the start I got that feeling like the atmosphere had shifted—part of it in the filming, and part of it in the plot, that felt more sci-fi… Idk. But it was fantastic. The plot was quite interesting—and the characters!

All right, so like most of us DW fans around the world, I watched the Rings of Akhaten, with ALL THE SYMBOLISM—and in-between loving Clara and wondering about Clara and the grandfather theme and her mum’s role in the story (there’s something, there’s something, there’s something going on with herrrrrr…) I just couldn’t seem to stop thinking about River. Happens to me a lot in episodes she’s absolutely not supposed to appear in, except that here there were REASONS!
