Classic!Who s4—The Underwater Menace
Mar. 21st, 2014 10:30 pmYes, yes, it's one episode in two days! This is legit! *falls off chair*
God it feels GOOD to watch parts that are not recons, even two out of four. My attention span and excitement are a lot higher that way ;) Nice ep overall, and I'm liking the team TARDIS as it is so far, four of them all over again. The plot was nice (Atlantis ftw!), the madman was fun, the costumes were dreadful. Two's squee at being dressed in local wild clothing was hilarious—as was his explaining madness with silly gestures and a very serious face and tone. XD
Epic lines of doom:
Polly about the Doctor (eating ambrosia ravenously): "I don't know. I've never seen him go for food like this before. It's usually hats."
Ben: "Do you know what you're doing?"
Two: "Oh, what a question. Of course I don't!"
Two: "Then perhaps the distant roaring that we can hear is just the goddess Amdo with the indigestion?"
Jamie (about the TARDIS): ""I'll never know what makes it go, mind you, but, well, at least I feel safe in here. It's only the wee things outside that are, well, alarming."
I might get wild and get started on The Moonbase next. I know I'll probably get some s7 caps sometime soon, and the icon-making cravings will be back with a fury then, and besides I wouldn't mind getting some writing done… Better watch while I can ;)

And Jamiiiieee!

Date: 2014-03-22 07:28 am (UTC)Yessss, hats over food =) It's always fun to see the Doctor eat/sleep for some reason, haha. Like "oh, you do that too?", and like it has long-term canon relevance or idk ;)
Yes, Jamie! I'm waiting to see how I like him, he's nice for now but doesn't stand out much. Plenty of time to get used to him though—he follows all of the Second Doctor, doesn't he???

Date: 2014-03-22 10:28 pm (UTC)Haha, I know! The Doctor usually seems to live on tea and sweets and sleep only in odd places, so actual food is nice. ;)
Yeah, Jamie's there for the rest of Two's run. He's is the companion who was in the most episodes, I think? I agree about him -- he doesn't really stand out, but he's so earnest. Plus he and Two are clinging to each other constantly and it's adorable.

This. ;)
Yes, the Wiki seemed to indicate Jamie was the most long-lasting companion ever. Adorable clinging ftw! :D

Date: 2014-03-23 07:04 pm (UTC)This so much :D And Two is having coffee in The Moonbase… That felt a bit weird, haha.
And don't forget Eleven's omelet. ;)

Hee! Is that the SUGARRR scene?
I had forgotten that omelet actually. Oh, Eleven. Has he eaten anything scince?

Date: 2014-03-23 07:46 pm (UTC)YES! Also I'm lol'ing at Polly being Coffee Girl all along. This ep is fun because it has blatant sexism mixed with Polly empowerment moments and I'm like "go 1967, you can do this!"
*explodes in laughter* He bit into Clara's biscuit in BoSJ! He had fish fingers and custard repeatedly… I don't even know my headcanon about how often Time Lords need food… XD normal enough? Idk, you've got to keep those two hearts and bypass respiratory system and all the double stuff well-fed and working. It only makes sense that it takes a bit of energy. So maybe eating a bit more randomly than humans, but not once a week with tea breaks in between or whatever. XDDD
The omelet really stuck with me because Eleven cooking looked like a complete disaster in the making and yet the result was GREAT! Also I like omelets and I want him to cook omelets for River and feels and yes. XD and make disasters half the time and greatness the other half… and give up halfway through because he's bored or distracted… Eleven! ♥

Hee, yes! :DDD Also I had forgotten fish fingers and custard whaaaaaat. I remembered that scone in the "thanks but I'm married" clip but then it wasn't a real scone but not FISH FINGERS I mean really. XD

That's so true! /has never thought of it that way
Most people's headcanons seem to be that he eats less/barely anything. The Time Lords seem to be great at controlling every single body function, but it must take energy to sustain all of that, hmm... Then again, the Doctor is special and might eat once a week just because he can't be arsed? XD
Hahahaha "tea breaks in between" hahaha

Aww, instant headcanon! Now I want River/Doctor/omelet too! "Here's brekkie in bed ignore the smoke and alarms hohoho" ♥

Indeed. XD We see the Master eat jelly babies (:D) with Lucy and we see him eat ravenously after the fucked-up return complete with skeleton flashes… somehow I do not think this counts… But the point about the Time Lords being very in control of their body functions is a very good one—maybe they eat about as regularly as humans, but can survive a lot longer without sustenance and be less weakened as an effect, and the Doctor is so busy he forgets to eat half the time. I think Ten ate in the s3 finale with Martha and Jack, too, when they were on the run.

Totally picturing that, hohoho included :D

That's also a good point! Maybe the second one doesn't count, but the first def. does. Plus that one's eating-for-pleasure instead of out of necessity, right? So they can do that.
but can survive a lot longer without sustenance and be less weakened as an effect
I'd like to subsribe to this theory! (There's an episode where the Time Lords have nourishment tablets(?) of some kind, but I dunno how that fits into their eating habits...)

Yesss, he did, you're right! Oh, and he almost ate that family's marmalade in Fear Her. XD

In a messy way. XDDD I think amongst the first episodes there was a machine that made food in the TARDIS, like, you press buttons, a thing comes out. Defeats the purpose of the several kitchens, but this was 1963-TARDIS.
Oh, and he almost ate that family's marmalade in Fear Her. XD
Did he? I'd forgotten! XDDD
