Classic Whooooo ♥ So this episode was pretty delightful. First—comboys! I had Town Called Mercy feels, this was fun. The Doctor wears a hat and gets mistaken for another Doctor! :D
It was really pretty fun and entertaining, I had a very good time. I'm loving how clueless and useless the Doctor, Steven and Dodo were throughout the whole thing, lol. They were basically pushed around from start to finish. This is my favourite Dodo episode thus far and I really felt pretty fond of her here, she had cheek and she was fun, even if she fainted and messed up when trying to help—I still cheered for her a lot. (Good that The Gunfighters and The Ark are the episodes that remained from her period as a companion, they're her best ones in my opinion.) Also died laughing at the scene when she threatened Doc Holliday with his gun so he would take her back to her friends. Seriously:
Dodo: I shall try not to kill you. I shall aim for your arm.
Holliday: That's real thoughtful. Just at the moment you're aiming right between my eyes.
Dodo: Oh, I'm sorry. Is that better?
Holliday: It's an improvement.
Giggles. And she also told the Doctor "Isn't it time you went to bed?" I died.
Other characters: all the cowboys were fun. The Clanton brothers were a bit of a waste of space, but the real, tough badasses—Doc Holliday and Johnny Ringo—had me cheering for them. Loved their attitudes and lines. Kate the dancer with her accent (all the accents, goodness) was also cool, I loved her having girl!time with Dodo and her interactions with her men
Other things… Poor Doctor with his tooth—served him right for eating the Toymaker's sweet, seriously. (And he really did expect anesthetics. XD) Holliday was a doctor I wouldn't want to have, obviously. The costumes were hilarious. Steven's? Seriously? He looked so ludicrous I almost died. And at some point the Doctor said "Howdy" and got called "Pop". My life is made.
I also felt terribly cold-hearted because I was like "aw" in a totally not broken-hearted way when the cowardly barman got randomly shot, and I laughed when the Doctor almost leaned on a corpse and then made an awkward face. This episode is also really not very peaceful: the Doctor spent the whole time being like "will you take that gun back/put that gun away!", but so many people got shot dead: the barman died basically for nothing, everybody was trying to get revenge for something or other, and they might very well talk about fair trials, but the Clanton brothers died, Ringo died, and Holliday got away with everything and walked away grinning and holding his lass. Far West realism :D And the Doctor commented "It's a terrible injustice. You know I'm very tempted to—" except Dodo shut him up to listen to the Western song. Moral ambiguity ftw! ♥
Very quotable quotes:
One: "I have no intention of trying anything, only people keep giving me guns and do I wish they wouldn't. I wonder, would you mind looking after it for me?"
Holliday: *gunshots* "It's all right, ladies, it's all right. I just ran into an old friend and he er, he kinda lost his appetite."
Charlie the barman: "It's er, it's on the house, sir."
Johnny Ringo: "I never figured different."
Next up: The Savages! Introduction with "We've now reached the distant horizon of an age, an age of peace and prosperity"—YEAH RIGHT. Why am I never convinced when the Doctor says that? And it's Steven's last episode. I won't miss him, admittedly—he's nice and entertaining enough, but bores me a bit most of the time ;) And then Ben and Polly will arrive and I'll be at the very end of the season. Eeeee. *bounces excitedly*
