Just finished series 1 of Classic!Who yesterday and enjoying it like mad. A few thoughts thrown out there:
1- I originally wasn't that caught—the Fire and Daleks episodes bored me a bit, if I'm being 100% honest. The Daleks one especially seemed so long. However, it was very cool to see their very first appearance. Things picked up a little bit with Edge of Destruction and the annnnnngst. Then I stopped to rewatch new!Who instead for ages—and starting again at Keys of Marinus, I ended up having a SMASHING time.
2- Couldn't really tell favourites. Least favourites would be the two first eps, as mentioned higher up. Aztecs gave me all the Barbara feels and I died laughing at the Doctor's engagement, Sensorites was pretty great too. I kept giggling at the Doctor in Reign of Terror, and lol'ing at hearing the Marseillaise and French names with English accents.
3- IAN/BARBARA RULES.
From a message I was sending yesterday to
angel1605:
angel1605: And did you know that there is a scene in the Sarah Jane Adventures in which Sarah Jane refers to them as being married? It made my shipper heart happy ;)
Me: Ahhhh they're married! :D Well, I'm utterly unsurprised tbh. I mean, just look at the two of them, they bloody look married already. I mean… they don't even need to touch, or flirt, or do anything couple-y. They just stand there being all physically close and talking like a team and touching in the most random and innocent ways and watching each other's back and they give such a feeling of partnership and togetherness. I usually ship what's messed-up and burning and passionate and push-and-pull, but in the just-simply-right category, Ian/Barbara wins HANDS DOWN.
I think this roughly sums it up. =) Also they ARE completely a team, completely equals, and Ian might be the man and good at action, but Barbara always follows, is not belittled or damsel-in-distress-ed, is so very clever and down-to-earth and resourceful. Ah :D
Edit: the very same lovely girl's comment below, about Ian and Barbara becoming professors, made me want to see River pop into the sixties, take advanced history classes and ask Barbara about the Aztec high priest Yetaxa… and gender-irrelevant!reincarnation :D Who wants to write this??? XD
4- I used to dislike Susan a bit, well, not really DISLIKE but not care for her, because she seemed to be there just to scream in the face of danger and be the poor innocent young girl. However, it was v. lovely to see her learn to stand up for herself, a little in Aztecs, but MOSTLY in Sensorites. And to her grandfather no less! I loved that moment. Seems to me like Sensorites did a lot of preparing her departure in s2, what with the speaking her mind, being her own person and not just meekly following her grandfather, and also the home theme and wondering what it would feel like to belong. AND THE GALLIFREY REFERENCE. Orange sky and silver leaves, my heart ♥
5- One is witty and priceless and amazing and kills me regularly. "Now get to work, skinny" and "I made cocoa and got engaged" are amongst my lines of legend but there are MORE! That ridiculously young old man ♥
I think those are all my thoughts. I love the first team TARDIS so much, but I still can't wait to get farther ahead, see Susan's departure and Vicki's arrival on board for instance. I want to see some variety :D Also, found links to ALL of the classic eps yesterday on Dailymotion, on three different channels. Made me so happy :D

Utterly unrelated, but I like to close with a pimp. I haven't looked into classic!fic yet, but I was mentioning my convo with the lovely
angel1605, and yesterday I also happened to be reading her WONDERFUL Once Upon A Time fic. I've never watched the show, but she made me want to, and turned me into a happy Rumbelle shipper through a YouTube vid of all their s1 scenes, a couple of other vids I found on my own, lots of gifs and lots of fangirl feels. Her writing is soooo lovely, so if you're a OUAT fan, you should def. check it out!
Recovering: "Spotting a distressed and no longer intimidating Mr. Gold in the hospital, amnesiac Belle returns the shards of his cup to him in an attempt to console him."
Enjoy, lovelies =)
