Well, this is it. The Chase is over and my babies are gone ♥ That was another pretty great episode though. Thoughts and highlights below:

1- overall, the plot was quite lovely. The only part that didn't really convince me was the horror-house part at the beginning, but I just loved the idea of it being a pre-conditioned horror house. The idea was interesting, and it acknowledged that the supposedly scary parts were all so cliché, but there was a REASON! And the ending of that part was great.

2- I liked getting back that feeling of a strong team TARDIS in which everybody could work with everybody just fine—Vicki seemed more independent from the Doctor here, after managing some great stuff on her own in the previous ep: she could be either with Ian or Barbara, or alone, instead of sticking to the Doctor's side all the time.

3- the supposedly invicible Daleks are actually a bit useless (Frankenstein just went and raised one up into the air o.O). Then again, they'd better be, it was hard enough getting rid of them as it was. Sometimes I seriously wonder why the Daleks were picked, at the beginning of the show, to be the ones who would come back over and over again. Not that I can think of much more terrifying monsters in early days, but I just have trouble taking them seriously. *shrugs* (And dear god, someone make them stop saying "I obey.")

4- discovery: classic!TARDIS lands where it wants and when it wants and cannot seem to go twice at the same place. I wonder if I'd just missed it, but I don't remember seeing any hints of that in former eps at all… Anyway, no wonder the Doctor has trouble controlling it. "Take this one, you'll have more fun", Clara said. Clara Oswald, annoying the Doctor since 1963 :D

5- all the One feels. Funny One, weary One, angry One, grave and sad One. ♥

6- Steven's first appearance! I was really curious about him—not bad at all thus far, though I can't say I fell in love with him right away. His overwhelming enthusiasm upon meeting actual people was quite moving. I CAN'T BELIEVE he went back into the inferno for his MASCOT at the end, though.

7- and of course, Ian and Barbara's departure. I really liked the way that was handled: their realizing the Dalek ship might be their only chance of ever getting home, the FIGHTING with the Doctor over the risk it was—god, that scene hurt so much! It was amazingly fitting the way Vicki quietly approached the Doctor afterwards, and he was all like "well, go away too and abandon me!", but she knew how to manage him. The very end was such heart-wrenching contrast—I was squeeing at Ian and Barbara's gleeful abandon and joy, they were so stupidly cute fooling around on Earth, but at that same time, the Doctor and Vicki walked away quietly together, and then watched them with the visualizer—and my heart broke when One said softly "I shall miss them—yes, I shall miss them." It was BEAUTIFUL ♥

On to smaller remarks:

- classic!time vortex is seriously gorgeous.

- THERE WAS MORE CARDIGAN USE.

- bored and annoyed Vicki at the beginning made me die laughing. "I am redundant here." Oh, poor darling :D

- I like it when Vicki switches to genius mode, like she did with the Doctor's time and space visualiser. It's a pity Susan wasn't like that more often—she had even more reason to, she was a Time Lady after all!

- also Vicki has pigtails.

- One's hat in the first part gave me Seven feels.

- that guy they met in New York was such an AWFUL American stereotype I couldn't believe it, it just killed me! And the Doctor's reactions to him too. "No we ain't." Don't, just don't…

- "Millions of people secretly believing. The immense power of all these people, combined together, makes this place become a reality." I was totally reminded of the power-of-minds plotlines in s3 of new!Who. I just love it when I see themes echoed from the VERY FIRST SEASONS, all the way to the new show. Continuity ftw!

- it was just incredible that the Doctor, Ian and Barbara took so LONG to realize that Vicki wasn't in the ship with them, but had been left behind, supposedly in the horror house. Idk—if I were running into a ship to escape a huge life-threatening situation, I'd be in a rush all right, but I'd double-check that my friends all made it.

- the Doctor's clone was just a BRILLIANT idea. I loved every bit of it, especially the cane fight between Doctors, Vicki backing away from One in fear, the way Barbara figured out that they had the wrong one… And "hmmm, I must get a Doctor". That was epic :D

- I wanted to hug Vicki when she was all terrified of heights and curling into a ball.

- choice of brilliant moments/lines:
*Doctor: "My dear Chesterton, do you mind if I distract you from your cowboys and Indians?"
*Doctor about Vicki: "The child's just like me, you know. Always wants to know what's on the other side of the hill."
*Ian calling Vicki Christopher Columbus.
*Vicki as future-girl, calling the Beatles classical music and New York ancient.
*AT ONE POINT THE DOCTOR ASKED FOR HIS SCREWDRIVER.
*Doctor: "Where's your spirit of adventure?"
Ian: "It died a slow and painful death when those bats came out of the rafters."
*Vicki bitchily joking about Barbara's hair turning white. ROFL.
*Steven: "Help yourself to a piece of eternity."
*Dalek: "I'm exterminated."
*Doctor to Ian: "My dear boy, I could kiss you." LET NOBODY SAY THAT THE DOCTORS DO NOT HAVE CONTINUITY.

*claps* I will make EVERYONE want to watch classic eps! :D (Seriously enjoying them to death—to THINK that I very nearly gave up halfway through s1, at the very least moving to another Doctor! All the One-era beauty I would have missed!)
I'm just about to see my first ever classic Time Lord I think :D Already! ♥

Trying it in the proper order seems a good idea -must not yield though, not enough time. And One is just ajfgsqjf great. Sassy, slightly scrary man. So alien.
*cheers* Ah, that will be something; they are a fun bunch, I think.

*hugs tight* Don't cry love, we'll win over time in the end! (Or… not.)
YES YOU MUST POST IT!!!!!!! *absolutely excited*
Oh well, the obsession got a bit less intense these days… I blame Daleks' Master Plan—such a long episode (seriously, 12 parts???!!!), in-between companions-wise… Only two parts left and I'm quite eager to be done with it. Also, I'm in the middle of a proofreading job and I do watch a little less when I do that, especially since the book is longer than usual and I think I'm a bit slower, which is never too pleasant. Still, the Time Lord I mentioned before, the Meddling Monk, appeared a little again in that big ep. I liked him a little better in his first ep, but he was still rather enjoyable—mostly in dialogue with the Doctor, because besides I didn't find his manipulativeness to be too convincing. He could be craftier. Then again, classic!Daleks get seriously stupid at times. Plot reasons everywhere.
