Positives!
Mar. 1st, 2015 10:39 pmHello! I have a (tentative) resolution about March and that is posting positives again, a little, when I can catch the time. ;) There have been positives today, so there is sharing! (Another beginning-of-the-month resolution is stopping the nail-biting compulsive bad habit, but eh. We will see about resolutions.)
Positives:
1- Got better sleep than the past few nights which were a bit scattered and all "keep waking up once an hour or so, toss and turn for a while, repeat and don't forget to fall asleep properly shortly before your actual get-up time". But was still awake at 7 (what are Sundays, I don't do them) and alert enough for *drumroll*
2- SOME ACTUAL WRITING OMFG
Yeah, it was only the first time in nearly three months, holy shit. *falls down* But there has been writing, and it's a very-very-implied-if-you-squint Brig/Liz piece that was meant for the
who_contest drabble round "Yellow", except it's 1K, so. XD If that is all right with
paynesgrey, I might try and cut out a shortened version to enter in the contest only, and post the proper one on my journal, AO3 and the like. If that's a problem, I'll just stick to the long stuff because oh well, the writing at all matters more than entering the contest and I feel like the piece would lose a lot in too much shortening; it's a thinky, semi-random insight moment like I usually do, and it's old!Who and Liz and the Brigadier, elaborate and sharp-worded writing fits them. I don't think trying to go too straight to the point would be as effective. I'm always all the more elaborate and wordy when I try to write something that sounds old-fashioned and elegant, and Liz is ten shades of clever and sharp-tongued, and I will stop rambling now. But there has been 1K of writing over two days, plus a tiny bit of editing of the aforementioned, and I'm a happy girl. ♥
3- There was a new wireless router to be installed, and I installed it like a boss. ^_^ Technology-0, me-56. It was really very simple, and I kind of expected that it would be, but my mother gets terribly anxious about those things (or much of everything) and very much wanted to leave it in the box, so it was nice being able to relieve her of that worry. Also, we won't mention the moment when I worried about the phone not working when I'd neatly plugged it into the router as the guidelines instructed, only to end up slowly realizing it would only be a good idea to plug into the wall socket while I was at it. Ahem. That never happened, surely.
4- Very mild weather aka nice for walks, and there wasn't even any rain involved!
5- Tonight I could catch up with a friend I hadn't talked to for a while and it was very nice to talk again and learn about everything he'd been up to, but I still had the time to get a few things done like reply to a few late emails and type this! (I'd asked Mandy to whip me as punishment if I didn't do the positives post.) And I'm feeling cheerful enough that I'm not even pissed off about not having time left to watch stuff, and not feeling stupidly tired either. (Though that could be a good or a bad thing if I'm all pumped and take forever to fall asleep. Oh, whatever. As long as I don't get proper insomnia I'll call myself lucky enough…)
What's I've been up to in general: translating a novella-sized thing from French to English for a new author I work with and making pretty good progress with it. Finished my Christie book at long last, about to launch into a book in Italian again, in the little time I manage to grasp for reading. Still behind, most of you know that. But I started watching Ambassadors of Death and it is nice ^_^ Will either continue it for a while longer or eventually drift back to new!Who rewatches and the Tennant era.
Loveeee you all ♥
