Just finished watching The Rescue and goodness, Vicki is a darling. :D I'm feeling really, really fond of her. I love how vulnerable she seems and yet tough at times, how she was pretty used to faring on her own after being alone with Bennett waiting for the rescue for so long—and yet how she was instantly drawn to the Doctor. It was very sweet, like she saw a fatherly/grandfatherly figure in him (after her father's death…) and he himself instantly took her under his wing, after his loss of Susan. (The moments when he called her "child" too were so very bittersweet.) I loved the way he handled her, gentle and able to listen to her, and yet still a guiding figure with some authority. It was all the more lovely because he bossed Susan around a lot too much, he was so used to her obeying him—but he didn't know Vicki yet and had to be a lot more respectful with her… Everything I love :D

I really enjoyed the plot besides, and Barbara and Ian's dynamic with Vicki, how they instantly seemed to take a liking to her as well. I liked Vicki's strong negative reaction when Barbara killed Sandy, and the way the Doctor managed to make her see that she'd only meant to protect her, too—her apology was sweet. The line "Well, you haven’t got the sort of face that kills things" just killed me. XD

Re: time travel: I had such a MASSIVE ROFL moment when Vicki calculated Ian and Barbara's age according to the year they came from vs. hers. THEIR FACES. I loved how shocked Barbara seemed and Ian just guffawed and the way she elbowed him :D Those two ♥

Also loved the Doctor holding Vicki's hand, and the Doctor breaking through a door (tsk, tsk) and the Doctor wrestling with Bennett =P

Funnily enough, Vicki made me think of Oswin/Clara sometimes. She's a lot less confident and more timid, but she's also been left on her own (basically) on a wrecked ship, she's hoping for rescue, she's looking after herself and besides, she triggered the same instant fondness in me, that must have helped ;) (Though I liked 7b!Clara at once but not Oswin…)

Re: ending: is Vicki the first one to say something that isn't quite "it's bigger on the inside", but certainly faintly similar? :D "But its huge! And, well, the outside is just, well…" Smaller, this is it, girl. Well, Clara parallel again. I just checked Ian and Barbara's first steps into the TARDIS, they did remark it of course, but didn't state it that way and the scene lasted way longer. Tradition-building ftw. And well, now I'm getting caught reading transcripts of the first ep—I didn't remember it was that witty =)

The day isn't being that productive though, so I should really stop that now. ^_^ such a shows-full day—Skins earlier, catching up with s7 (and finding Effy being TYPICAL Effy. The eps were still enjoyable though. Fingers crossed for the Cassie two-parter), then classic!Who and tonight at dinnertime it'll be new!Who on TV again. Well, I guess I've been working hard for the past couple of days and hadn't taken the time to watch anything much for a week, so that's all right… ;) All the love to fandom.
