Classic!Who s6—The Invasion
Quick-ish review this time because I don't have that much to say. It was pretty cool to see the Brigadier again, along with UNIT—the upbeat UNIT theme was quite enjoyable :) Villain-wise, Vaughn was pretty one-dimensional and megalomaniac but it was still interesting seeing his dynamic with the second-in-command Packer (Packer first being the ruthless and sadistic employee, but then he starts feeling anxious and out of his depth when he sees Vaughn growing too full of himself and out of control). Also interesting seeing Vaughn and the Doctor having to cooperate against the Cybermen at the end, and Vaughn refusing to help out of any goodness or sense of pity, but doing so out of hate for the Cybermen who destroyed his vision…
The character of Isobel was fun, seemingly girly and a bit air-headed at first glance but she was also willful and had some potential. I liked her making Zoe pose for her photos with a boa, the girls together were nice ;) There were a few girl-power moments besides, with Isobel cutting the Brigadier down to side for making a "bigoted, anti-feminist, cretinous remark." "Oh you—you man"—I died at that :D And of course, Zoe saved the day twice with her super-brain. Her messing up the bad guys' computers and figuring out how to destroy the whole Cyberman fleet were just epic. Zoeeee! ♥
Besides, Jamie clung to the Doctor a lot, Cybermen looked ridiculous a few times, lines were fun :D No news there.
Speaking of fun lines:
Isobel to Zoe after the latter fucked up the baddies' computer: "Hey, don't you think we better get out of here before somebody gets annoyed?"
Jamie to Two: "You know something? You're a clever wee chap."
Jamie: "What happens if they get the lift going before we get to the top?"
Two: "Oh, that's simple."
Jamie: "What?"
Two: "We get squashed."
UNIT guy about Zoe: "Can't we keep her on, sir? She's much prettier than a computer."

Oh, well. That's...pleasant. *smacks my forehead* Oh, Doctor...you aren't very good at being comforting sometimes...

Btw, I see you're enjoying the Jamie-Zoe-Doctor dynamic (it's wonderful, isn't it?) - have you ever read LilacFree's Transit of Venus? It's a lovely look at them, probably the ultimate non-sexual OT3 fic. (Though it does refer to The War Games at the end, so depending on what you know about that, you might want to save it till you reach the end of that.)

Thanks for the rec! I'll check it out :D And I know they get their memories erased, my poor loves…

And, aw, if you know that, you'll be all right. Well, apart from the fact there is no being all right with that particular bit of canon.

Yeahhhh… :( Not okay. *cuddles Jamie and Zoe*
(That's a gorgeous icon ♥)

And it is a nice icon - I can't remember who made it now without going to look.

Ohh... I'll have to check that, but I can't find my memory stick with all the snaffled icons on right now. I have loads of icons by Sally, including my previous Two icon, so I can see how I could easily have miscredited it, but that's not her usual style at all & I thought it was somebody else. Calapine or Nentari, maybe?
(This is a Sally icon! :-D)

Hang on, maybe there was a confusion on what icon I meant—I was referring to exactly that one, the trust-machines one :) However, the Polly-and-Two icon (which also looks great!) is by nentari indeed :)

(It's a Voc! You'll meet one at some point if you keep going. They really are the loveliest Art Deco robots!)

And okay! I have no doubt about the "keep going" part, but it might be in a few years, hahaha ;)
