Classic!Who s3—The Ark
THIS IS IT I FINISHED MY TRANSLATION! ^_^ …but that was not the point of this post at all. Ahem…
Sooo, I watched The Ark now! And The Celestial Toymaker is next, eeeee! But no need to think about that—The Ark was really pretty good, one of my s3 favourites, definitely—if not the one. (Its being entirely available might have helped too!) The plot was pretty great. I liked the portrayal of the humans and the Monoids at first (and the Doctor being friendly with the Monoids and commenting that they were cleverer than given credit for), that peaceful, balanced society reaching towards their great goal, yet how easily they fell into anger and fear when confronted to the danger brought by the TARDIS crew. The idea of Dodo's cold being possibly lethal for them was great. I also loved the idea of the TARDIS arriving again many decades down the line, and the radical change they found, the Monoids having taken over. The Refusians were also just epic! (Beautiful setting, too.)
Characters-wise, it was also quite nice. One was his usual wonderful self, and Steven his action-based, a bit reckless self. I don't really care about him much anymore, but he's still okay ;P As for Dodo, her development was rather pleasant—at the beginning she seemed comical but a bit silly, but she grew quite a bit by the end, showed some perceptiveness and became more useful whilst putting her big mouth to better use. Her dynamic with the Doctor is also very nice, he's found another "my child" to strut around with. Their holding hands and his utter helplessness at one point when she was crying were just so cute. On another note, I was just DELIGHTED by his repeated criticism of her. Use a handkerchief, your English is terrible, what the devil are you wearing—she could hardly catch a break at first, but she took it all very cheerfully and the overall effect was just adorable. I'd missed so much bickering. I also loved her totally cool reaction to his stating "Home? Ho, ho! What an idea. I couldn't send you home even if I wanted to." Not super realistic, but giggle-worthy. She's been quite pleasant overall, not quite a favourite, but nice nonetheless =)
Also, I kept noticing random look-alikes—first it was a guy who looked like Peter Capaldi, then a couple amongst the slave humans who reminded me strongly of Ian and Barbara—faces, voices and general dynamic ;)
That is all for now. OhgodI'mdonewithwork! *flails happily* (Well, my translation at least…)

And I was hoping you'd warm to her. Steven was always rather 'meh' from what I've gathered....dammit, I need to rewatch!!

Yep, it takes some time for the character to develop after all. I really enjoyed Steven at the beginning when he was bickering all the time with Vicki and the Doctor, but left alone, his character doesn't do much to me… (Where is the randomness of his first appearance with the panda mascot? ♥)
